Choosing the right equipment that meets your needs can be quite a challenge, so to improve this process, we present the most important points of improvement for you to understand what to look for in the hybrid solar electric features. Discover the advantages of hybrid systems.
Two main groups of Hybrid inverters are distinguished, depending on which voltage accumulators (accumulators) solar power plants are compatible with:
High Voltage Hybrid inverters:
- High voltage inverters usually operate with a voltage range of 150V to 1000V.
- These inverters are more efficient in terms of power transfer because a higher voltage means less current to move the same amount of power, which reduces losses in the wires.
- Due to the high voltage, such inverters are often used in larger solar systems and commercial projects where higher power transfer efficiency and reliability are required.
Low Voltage Hybrid inverters:
- Low voltage inverters operate in the 12 V to 48 V range.
- They are more popular in smaller solar power systems, such as individual homes or small businesses, where energy needs are lower.
- Low voltage inverters are safer due to their lower voltage, so they are often used in systems where there are stricter safety requirements.
Hybrid inverters often have special connection terminals for generators. This allows the connection of a backup diesel or gasoline generator that can be used as an additional power source in case of emergencies or long-term power grid failures. Some inverters also provide the possibility to use the generator terminals to connect an additional power plant or to expand an existing power plant.
When the generator is connected to the hybrid inverter, the inverter can automatically control its on and off depending on the condition of the batteries and the energy needs. If the batteries are dead and there is not enough solar power, the inverter can run the generator to supply power and/or charge the batteries.
Backup load, often called "smart load" or "intelligent load", is a feature of hybrid inverters that allows you to optimize the use of electricity and reduce dependence on the electricity grid. It is an advanced system that automatically distributes power to specific loads based on available energy from the sun, batteries and the grid. The backup load can also be used for uninterrupted power supply even in the event of a power outage from the electricity supplier
A hybrid system combined with an EV charging station can provide additional benefits such as dynamic power balancing, special additional functions for the management of green energy, and the ability to use the EV as a storage capacity for electricity supply.
